SLOAN! is the first act in this year’s Summer Concerts on the Square free music series.

The City of Charlotte Downtown Development Authority’s Summer Concerts on the Square free music series kicks-off its season this Thursday evening, July 7, at 6:30 p.m. on the south lawn of the historic 1885 Eaton County Courthouse Square.  SLOAN! will be the featured guest, playing many of your favorite hits like you’ve never heard them before.

SLOAN! was formed in Lansing in November, 2015, and play across all different genres of music. This jazzy, fukadelic band infuses their sound with influences from artists like Michael Jackson, Marcus Miller, Prince, George Benson, Jamiroquai and Mint Condition.  The band members are Alan B. Sloan, lead vocals and keyboards; Aaron Meyer, guitar and vocals; Adam Meinerding, bass and vocals; Ramon Jefferson, keyboards; and Zachary Mckinney on drums.

The Summer Concerts on the Square series continues each Thursday evening through the end of August, and will include a variety of acts, some new to the series, and some returning favorites. Thursday, July 14 will feature Woah Nelly!, the winner of last year’s “Stars of Charlotte” competition at the Charlotte Performing Arts Center, along with special guest Elizabeth, who was also a highly-rated performer at that event.

Each concert begins at 6:30 p.m. and lasts approximately 2 hours. Concerts will be moved to the Charlotte Performing Arts Center in the event of rain. Be sure to visit the Charlotte Artisan and Farmer’s Market, also operating on the Courthouse Square Thursday afternoon and evening. Bring your picnic blanket, lawn chairs, family and friends to have a great time on the Square! Attend one concert and you will want to come back for more.
