Reconstruction of the 100 block of East Lovett Street in downtown Charlotte began on Monday, July 17. The first week’s work involved pavement, curb and sidewalk removal.
The photos above show some of the old coal chutes leading to building basements that were discovered under the sidewalks. The contractor will be providing an estimate for blocking these holes and filling them to remove these voids before new sidewalks are poured.
The following is the tentative schedule of activities associated with the project. The order of various tasks is subject to change and delays can occur due to inclement weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
