The City ofCharlotte Downtown Development Authority is pleased to announce another year of free summer concerts on the1885 Courthouse Square. The concert series will begin Thursday evening, July 12, and continue each Thursday evening through the end of August. All concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m., run approximately two hours, and are weather-permitting.
This year’s Summer Concerts on the Square will feature a few returning favorites, and a number of acts new to the series. There will also be a couple special event nights. A popular highlight of last year returning for 2012 is the Charlotte Lions Club’s ‘Taste of Charlotte,’ planned for August 23. There will also be a special ‘Canvas and Cupcakes’ event hosted by Can Do!’s Experience Art during the August 9 concert. This is designed to appeal especially to young people between the ages of 10 to 18.
From great rock and soul, to blues, bluegrass and oldies, there will be a wide variety of free, family-friendly music for you to enjoy. Please feel free to bring your blankets, lawn-chairs and non-alcoholic refreshments
The Downtown Development Authority would like to thank the Charlotte Kiwanis Club for providing refreshments at the concerts on a weekly basis, and also Charlotte resident Alisa Dyer, who helped organize this year’s series.
