CHARLOTTE — Summer Concerts on the Square continues this week Thursday, July 19, with a 6:30 p.m. performance by rockabilly favorites Billy Mack and the Juke Joint Johnnies. This week’s concert is generously sponsored by Pray Funeral Home.
For more than 13 years, Billy Mack and Juke Joint Johnnies have been pleasing audiences throughout the Midwest, California and Florida with their unique brand of Swing-a-Billy, Rockabilly and Lounge music. This blend of styles makes them stand out performers with a large following. They have also released five critcally-acclaimed albums on CD. Led by Billy Mack’s dynamic, soaring vocals, the band delivers high-quality musicianship with exceptional stage presence.
“Year after year, this is one of our most requested bands,” concert organizer Bryan Myrkle said. “They put on a real show, not just a concert. They are fun and entertaining way beyond just the music.”
The Summer Concerts on the Square free music series will continue every Thursday evening, weather permitting, through August 16. All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. and last approximately two hours. Audience members are invited to bring their picnic blankets, lawn chairs and non-alcoholic refreshments.
