In 2011, following the recommendation of Director of Public Works Amy Schoonover, the City used a cold-in-place recycling process to rehabilitate Mikesell Street and the Hall-Washington-McClure corridor. This process was very cost effective, saving 25% over more conventional street improvement technologies.
The City’s use of this innovative technology has been recognized with several awards. Most recently, it was the lead article in the June 2012 edition of The Bridge, a publication of Michigan’s Local Technical Assistance Program. The article is available to read here.
