Items Acceptable for Recycling

The Charlotte Area Recycling Authority (CARA) is a consortium of the City of Charlotte, Benton Township, Carmel Township, Chester Township and Eaton Township.  The Recycling Center, located at 201 Hall Street , was first opened in 1995 for the purpose of providing a drop-off recycling center for the collection, processing, marketing and removal of recyclable items.  The City of Charlotte serves as its fiscal agent.

CARA Is Now Recycling Electronics!!!
The Recycling Center is pleased to offer electronics recycling to its customers. For a list of electronics items accepted at the Center, please click here.
The Recycling Center is always looking for individual and groups of volunteers.  Speakers for educational talks in schools are also available.  If you are interested in volunteering or scheduling a program, please contact the CARA Director at 517-213-1266.
