Police Officer – $ 20.31 to $26.43 per hour, full time, FLSA non-exempt, POLC union. The City of Charlotte, Michigan is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Police Officer to work for the best small department in the State of Michigan. We are seeking the next professional candidate to join our 16-person progressive department with potential for growth and focus on a long-term career with our agency. Ideal candidates will have excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work with fellow officers and other members of city staff, and ability to use sound judgement in situational evaluation and decision-making. Candidates must have an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Public Administration or related field with a Bachelor’s Degree preferred. To be eligible for the position, candidates must be certified, or certifiable, as a Police Officer by MCOLES, or currently attending an MCOLES certified training academy, and must possess a valid State of Michigan driver license. This positions requires satisfactory completion of background and physical screening processes, and must be 21 years of age.

Code Enforcement Officer – $20+ per hour, DOQ/E, part-time approximately 30 hours per week, FLSA non-exempt. The City of Charlotte is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

We are seeking a part-time code enforcement officer to oversee code enforcement for residential and commercial properties. The role will be responsible for proactively conducting field inspections for residential and commercial properties; communicating with responsible parties on compliance issues; writing notices and citations; and representing the city in court on code enforcement related matters.  Ideal candidate will have demonstrated history of ability and skills working with people to resolve issues. The code enforcement official will be responsible for ensuring residents, property owners, and commercial tenants maintain properties into compliance with city codes. A good driving record is required. Rental Inspector – $ 20+ per hour, DOQ/E, part-time approximately 30 hours per week, FLSA non-exempt. The City of Charlotte is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

We are seeking a part-time rental inspector to administer the recently adopted rental inspection program for residential properties in the city. The role will be responsible for ensuring landlords complete registration processes, scheduling and conducting inspections of properties, and coordinating with responsible parties on compliance issues. He or she will also be expected to write notices and citations and represent the city in court on rental property related matters.  Ideal candidate will have demonstrated history of ability and skills working with people to resolve issues. The inspector will be responsible for ensuring property owners maintain properties in compliance with city codes.
