The planned reconstruction of Parking Lots #4 & #10 in downtown Charlotte is beginning today. These lots will be closed for use during the duration of the project, which is expected to take two months. Residents with overnight parking needs will be able to park on the streets during the project without getting ticketed. Customers of businesses in this block are urged to use adjacent city parking lots, or nearby street parking.
These lots are located along Washington Avenue in downtown Charlotte. The project began several years ago with the Downtown Development Authority’s purchase of The Corral building. The building was later razed due to its deteriorating and dangerous condition. This is the area of Parking Lot 10.
Now, the city is working to reconstruct the entire parking area, including lot #4, so all public parking in that block will be improved. It is the city’s hope that this project will be a benefit to the business owners and their customers, as well as the residents who live in that area.
If you have any questions about the project, please contact the city at (517) 543-8853.
