Consumers Energy Grant Helps the City Plant Trees

Nov 10, 2018

With a generous grant from Consumers Energy, the City was able to plant 23 new trees in the rights-of-way throughout Charlotte.  The grant is competitive in nature, and the City was awarded $100 toward the purchase and installation of each tree.

The focus of the grant is help municipalities plant the Right Tree, Right Place.  This is a campaign to make sure the appropriate height tree species are planted under power lines.  This reduces the need to prune trees away from the wires and increases energy reliability.

The grant was administered by the Michigan Forestry & Park Association.
