Application & Resume Policy
The following are policies and procedures followed by the Human
Resources Department of the City of Charlotte regarding the
collection, storage and use of resumes and applications.
Resumes and applications are divided into two categories: Solicited
and unsolicited. Solicited resumes and applications are those
received in response to action taken by the city to fill a vacancy.
Unsolicited resumes and applications are those received by the city
which are not in response to action taken by the city. These can be
for specific advertised positions or for general employment.
Both solicited and unsolicited resumes and applications are accepted
at all times and will be kept on file for a period of one year. It
is the responsibility of the applicant to notify the Human Resources
Department if they wish to be considered for a specific advertised
position or extend their application beyond a year.
All resumes and applications are stamped with the date received. All
solicited resumes and applications will receive a response from the
Human Resources Department. Any individual who wishes to be
considered for a specific position will be required to fill out a
City of Charlotte Application for Employment. Applications can be
