Charlotte’s Fitch H. Beach Airport (FPK) is open 24/7 and is staffed from 8:00 a.m. to dusk. Located inside the city limits on the east side of town, you are minutes away from restaurants, lodging and the industrial parks. Lansing is a short distance by car (20 minutes). Our Modern facility includes a concrete runway 3500 ft. x 75 ft. with full taxiway, complete with precision papi, and reil lighting. Charlotte has two instrument approach systems; Vor and GPS. New weather services (AWOS and WSI) allow more flights in under most weather conditions. Charlotte Airport is a popular stop with aircraft on the east Coast. They know when they stop for fuel here, food is just minutes away.

One of the many traditions hosted by Fitch H. Beach Airport is the annual Lions Club sponsored "Dawn Patrol" on Father's Day with a pancake breakfast. During Frontier Days in September the closing celebrations are ended with a fireworks display at the airport.

The Michigan Army National Guard utilizes the airport for military training. The Michigan State Police will use the airport for their command center when doing accident investigations or with search and rescue operations. It is also used as a means for transporting prisoners.

If you enjoy aircraft, check out the Experimental Aircraft Association, Biggest Air Show. They put on the largest air shows in the United States . There will be planes from military to the most modern. If you have never attended a big air show, check it out.

Charlotte has been a great community for teaching kids about aviation. We have tours for schools, churches, scout merit badges, etc. It’s a place where learning is always fun. Kids actually get to sit in the cockpit and pretend what it’s like to fly. Let their imaginations soar. We give them the necessary time to ask those important questions and to show them equipment like wind socks, rotating beacons and lighting systems. We explain why we have different light colors and how pilots fly without roads.

Different universities use our facility as part of their training. Western Michigan University , Lansing Community College and Jackson Community College all use the Charlotte Fitch H. Beach Airport for instructional purposes. Private flight training for recreational use is also available at the airport.

Charlotte's Fitch H. Beach Airport is a participating member of Mercy Flights for the transport of critical patients to hospitals like the Mayo Clinic. The air ambulance services for Hayes Green Beach Hospital is located at Fitch H. Beach Airport. The helipad was relocated to FHB airport due to building expansion of the hospital. Patients are brought to the airport and then air lifted to other locations.

Fitch H. Beach Airport offers charter flights for businesses. The availability for suppliers to come to Charlotte and the quick accessibility to parts, supplies, services and equipment (on-demand parts delivery) is a major focus for the airport and the future airport improvements.
